Rare Sea Creature Appears on Seattle Woman's Dock

      In this article a strange creature appears mysteriously on a woman's dock. It has been identified as a ribbon seal. An eyewitness by the name of Michael Cleland reported to OurAmazingPlanet, "I thought, 'that's an interesting-looking creature', I had no idea what it was." According to the article a ribbon seal is an "arctic species that spends most of its life at sea, swimming the frigid waters off Alaska and Russia." Leader of the National Marine Mammal Laboratory's Polar Ecosystems Program, Peter Boveng, say's the sighting was "pretty exciting," and "really unusual." The article confers Boveng saying "the animals spend only a few months per year on sea ice, to molt and give birth, and have almost never been seen so far south." He then says,"So it's a surprise, but knowing the species, it's not a complete surprise to me; they're good travelers."

       This very interesting to me because when I saw this article I was wondering what it was until it was later identified. This was actually the first time I saw a ribbon seal. It's cool how far it swam to get to southern Seattle. It swam about 5197 miles, and that's a long way to swim for a little mammal.

Girl Catches Thief With Webcam: Hallie Pritchard, 12, Nabs Alleged Burglar On Camera

A 12 year-old tween named Hallie Pritchard caught an intruder by the name of Douglas John Calandrella, a 46 year-old former real estate agent, stealing a diamond necklace and a diamond bracelet from her bedroom drawer. Hallie's intentions were to catch her younger siblings in the act of moving her belongings. Douglas Calandrella has been arrested two years ago for a similar accusation. Apparently, "Police say that during his first offense, Calandrella used keys stolen from lock boxes to pilfer more than 50 items, which he promptly listed on eBay", reports KSDK. The article also states that, "Calandrella, already on probation for the previous burglary, is being held without bail".


I hope they actually keep Douglas in jail this time because it's becoming an uncontrolling habit for him and it's not fair that when he gets caught he's only held with bail; especially because he's still on probation for a previous crime, which happens to be burglary. Maybe he will learn not to steal again.

Copper thieves strike Camden daycare

    In this article a daycare called Precious Little Lites was robbed for their valuable copper metal. The owner pastor Donald Sutton has installed protective caging for the air conditioning units and a surveillance camera to protect the daycare "but still, the thieves continue to steal".  According to Mr. Sutton they've lost anywhere between $45,000- $50,000 over the last few years.
     I feel as though that was very wrong to do because if the daycare continues to lose money they just might lose their daycare. That could be inconvenient for parents. People can be selfish and inconsiderate. I think the thieves should return the copper, even though there's a good possibility they won't.

Obama Backs Limit on Sale to Teenagers of Morning-After Pill

      According to The NY Times Obama, as well as Kathleen Sebelius (Obama's secretary), is putting restrictions on the availablity of the morning-after pill formerly known as Plan B. President Obama states,“The reason Kathleen made this decision is that she could not be confident that a 10-year-old or an 11-year-old going to a drugstore should be able — alongside bubble gum or batteries — be able to buy a medication that potentially, if not used properly, could have an adverse effect”. He then adds,“And I think most parents would probably feel the same way”.
     I agree with what Obama says because if it weren't for age restrictions teenagers would try to buy PlanB; it would be dangerous for them to use so the restrictions were much needed. Young teens or teens period shouldn't need to use PlanB anyway so maybe they could learn from their actions and the outcomes later on in life.
